What does Rachel Carson have to do with Brazilian samba music?

The new Unthunk project is inspired by the marine biologist Rachel Carson, and for obscure reasons, it seemed that some popular mid-century music could provide some appealing relief. So we’re venturing into the popular music in Carson’s era – it has been a journey!
