Here is the leader’s second in command, designated Reverend Terrapin, providing his post mortem on the cult, from the vantage of his subsequent life on the seedy lounge circuit.

My classmates pranked and fought at school
I cringed, alone, misunderstood
They formed their fast friendships until
Tumbling out into adulthood
In working world, more of the same
My hopes worn down with dull routine
Subject to boss who earned disdain
Himself subject to same regime
Then out from shuddering subway
Emerged Rasputin eyes
He clasped my hand, and lifted me
Through panoramic skies
The scene replays: telephoto,
Then slow-approaching swoop.
The flick of grainy celluloid,
A reel in endless loop.
The amber cast is seeping back
The span of years collapse.
Though touched, he breathed sincerity;
Amassed a lost and lonely group.
He had the gift of prophesy,
Inspired a nihilistic hope
He called on me to purify
His vision ceremonial.
At last I could unfurl and fly,
Applying skills conceptual.
My former boss, now neophyte,
My canticle intoned;
Abased himself in new-made rite,
Surrendered all he owned.
The scene replays: telephoto,
Then slow-approaching swoop.
The flick of grainy celluloid,
A reel in endless loop.
The amber cast is seeping back
The span of years collapse.
Brother Dvi was mesmerized
With our success, and yet recoiled:
With each ambition realized,
Approached e’er closer to the void.
He clenched his brow, dug deeper still
As though to bore through physical,
Survive unscathed, by force of will:
Decreed our final ritual.
Alone immune to Brother’s charm
I slipped the poison fate
To face the group, in torment squirm,
Wise to the hoax too late.
The scene replays: telephoto,
Then slow-approaching swoop.
The flick of grainy celluloid,
A reel in endless loop.
The amber cast is seeping back
The span of years collapse.
Brother Dvi, so brief your spark
That lit my rise to influence.
I played my part, then you went dark,
Left me to bear the consequence.
